Atomic Synchronized Clock Project

Watch collecting is a hobby of mine. I'm particularly fun of automatic watches. Automatic watches are purely mechanical and do not require hand winding. They have a mechanism that automatically winds the spring with the movements of your wrist. For some reason this small fact enjoys me, it's something organic that resonates with me. The drawback of this type of watches is when left immobilized for a couple of days they stop and I need to shake them or hand wind them to start again. Also after they restart I need to re-set the time (and possible date if they have date complication). Currently to re-set the time I use a quartz watch, another automatic watch still ticking or an app in my smartphone. Typically this is done at my bed side in the morning when dressing up. I prefer to set the time as accurate as possible, that's why I tend to use the app in my smartphone that displays the time synchronized with an atomic clock. I'm a fan and avid user of open source software. I like the feeling of freedom, "hackability" and transparency I get from the fact of a software being open source. The operating system in my PC's and laptop is Linux (in several distros), my office suite is LibreOffice, my email client is Thunderbird and the list goes on an on. So it comes at without surprise that my EDA software (Electronic Design Automation software) is KiCad. It's a great software and keeps on getting better. True that it still has some room for improvement but already is quite usable. Customize Components Information Fields In KiCad Eeschema

Schematics design step is, for me, the most important one of the development process as it defines the circuit. Also it's in this step that the foundations are set for an efficient and cost effective production. One thing that I found to be very useful is to enrich the component information with the following fields: Mnf - Name of the manufacturer Mnf PN - Manufacturer part number PN - My part number / reference for the component Sup1 PN - Supplier 1 part number Sup2 PN - Supplier 2 part number Alt PN - Alternative components part numbers Unit Price 10 - Unitary price for purchase quantities of 10 Unit Price 100 - Unitary price for purchase quantities of 100 Notes - Any note or comments I may want to include in the component information Populating these fields for all components in the schematics facilitates the exporting of a comprehensive Bill Of Materials (BOM) and the costing of the circuit.
